A Study on Thermal Conductivity and Mechanical Strength of Graphite Filled Composites with Various Filler Sizes and Contents |

In this study, graphite granule-filled polyamide (PA) nanocomposites were prepared with various graphite size and content in the composites, and their mechanical strength and thermal conductivity were studied. Graphite granule was developed by a solution mixing using a bar-type ultra-sonicator with the graphite contents from 1 phr to 50 phr. Then, graphite granule was mixed with a polyamide matrix to produce graphite/PA pellet with highly dispersion of graphite flakes. Final composites were prepared by a well-known injection molding technique. The mechanical strength and thermal conductivity of the nanocomposites were studied by ASTM D638 method and a hot-disc method by ISO22007-2, respectively. As a result, it was found that the mechanical properties and thermal conductivity of the composites improved linearly with increasing graphite content and particulate size. |
