Preparation of Latent Heat Storage Nanocapsules via Resin Fortified Miniemulsion Polymerization |

Phase change material-polystyrene (PCM-PS) nanocapsules were prepared by resin fortified miniemulsion (RFME) polymerization using the alkali soluble resin (ASR) of poly(styrene-co-acrylic acid) (SAA). The SAA, which is functional amphiphilic polymer, has water-stability property of oil phase nanodroplet after high shear homogenization. Crosslinking agent improved both hardness of polymer shell and PCM encapsulation efficiency. Average particle size of nanocapsules was about 400nm by DLS. Morphology and inner structure of the PCM-PS nanocapsules were proved by SEM and TEM method. Behavior of thermal energy storage and release of PCM-PS nanocapsules was analyzed by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). |
