Electro-catalytic hydrogen evolution reaction(HER) with noble metals is one of the most important routes to produce hydrogen efficiently for the fuel cell application. Not only because of the high price of the noble metals but also because of its limited amounts, improving electro-catalytic activity with less amount of noble metal in the HER is crucial. In this work, we have investigated the possibility of the defect-rich MoS2 nano-sheets as an intermediate supporter for nano metal catalysts since this supporter is expected to prevent aggregation of the nanoparticles(NP) and also the defect sight of MoS2 would show catalytic activity in HER by itself. Additionally, PtAg hollow NPs can be successfully synthesized via galvanic replacement on the defect-rich MoS2 supporter. Thus, this hollow NPs on defect-rich MoS2 nano-sheet would improve the mass-specific electro-catalytic activity of the HER due to their high surface-area-to-volume ratio compared with the bulk Pt catalysts. |
