제목 Development of Wave-powered Pump for Supplying Nutrients  to Floating Photobioreactors with Selectively-permeable Membranes
초록 Selectively-permeable membranes (SPMs) allow exchange of water and nutrients between the photobioreactor(PBR) and the surrounding environment. In SPM-PBRs, supplying seawater could increase biomass productivity, but seawater supply methods using natural energy are needed to prevent increase of production cost. In this study, a wave-powered pump was developed to provide nutrients to microalgae in floating SPM-PBRs. The marine microalga, Tetraselmis sp. MBEyh01L, was cultivated in floating SPM-PBRs deployed in a simulated ocean condition. Performance of the wave-powered pump was compared with that of electrical pump. The two supplying systems were estimated to have the same amounts of nutrient supply rate. The result showed that the wave-powered pump was as effective as electricity-driven pump in improving algal biomass productivity. With optimization and scaling-up, wave-powered pump would be able to contribute to enhancements in algal biomass productivity in ocean cultivation.
