Effect of stretch orientation on the structural, physical properties of polypyrrole film |

Properties of conducting polymer is closely related to its conformation. It is well known that the conductivity of polyaniline is 1 ~ 5 S/cm but that of 4-fold stretched film increases up to 200 S/cm. In this study, polypyrrole was synthesized by chemical polymerization using functional dopants. Free standing film was prepared by solution casting. Films were stretch-oriented by zone drawing method. Structural properties of polypyrrole film before and after the zone drawing were investigated by XRD, SEM and AFM. Room temperature conductivity of polypyrrole film increased from 10-3 S/cm to 10-2 S/cm after stretch-orientation. Effect of stretch-orientation on the physical properties will be discussed. |
