Effect of polymer purity on the performance of PBI membranes |

In this study we investigated the effect of polymer purity on polybenzimidazole's performance. Its extraction methods focuses on removing the solvent and does not address the unreacted monomers still present within the matrix. We have extracted the monomers through the difference in melting temperature and investigated its effect on the polymer. FT-IR has been used to determine the purity level, and its thermal behavior was explored via differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). Its performance as a proton exchange membrane has also been evaluated via impedance analyzer. |
