Carbon fibers are commonly used as reinforcement materials in advanced composites due to their high mechanical strength, rigidity and low specific density. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of electron beam irradiation on the physicochemical properties of carbon fibers to obtain better adhesion properties in resultant composite. Carbon fibers were irradiated with 2.5 MeV electron beam energy at dose range from 50 to 300 kGy. The physicochemical properties were characterized by elemental analysis, FT-IR, TGA, and SEM. |
