제목 Visual pH sensors based on pH-response hydrogel
초록 The pH-sensitive hydrogel is a gel structure that is sensitive to changes in pH. It can swell or shrink when changing the pH of the environment, because of the existence of pH sensitive functional groups in the molecular network. Sulfonamide group is a weak acid and the hydrogen atom of amide nitrogen can be readily ionizable at basic pH because highly electron attracting sulfonyl group draws electrons from the nitrogen atom, resulting in ionization. To investigate the possibility of application of pH-sensitive hydrogel for pH indicator, monomer and polymer hydrogels containing pH-sensitive sulfonamide functional groups were prepared. The synthesized monomers and polymers were characterized by FT-IR, NMR, SEM, UV-vis and pH dependent swelling and transparency transition of hydrogel were measured.
