제목 | Reduced Foreign Body Reaction of Bulking Agents Prepared by Zwitterionic Polymer coated Silicon Partial for Treatment of Fecal Incontinence |
초록 | Zwitterions have both cation and anion groups in the molecule, therefore they show hydrophilic and anti-biofouling properties. Zwitterionic polymers have been used in medical devices such as artificial joints used in the body, because they can reduce foreign body reaction that occur when artificial materials are inserted into the body due to their anti-biofouling effects. In this study, zwitterionic polymer-coated microparticles were prepared for reducing the foreign body reaction that occurred on the injectable bulking agents for fecal incontinence. Bulking agents were resized by suspension-based techniques for better injectability of the bulking agent into the body. The resulting bulking agent confirmed a 58%reduction in protein adsorption and negligible cytotoxicity in vitro. These results proposed the possibility of reducing foreign body reactions in the bulking agent, and suggested that zwitterion could be applied to injectable medical devices. |
