Synthesis and characterization of Poly(carbazole)-based Anion Exchange Materials for Electrochemical Applications |

Anion exchange membranes(AEM) have been considered as the promising electrolyte for anion exchange membrane fuel cell(AEMFC). Also, AEMFC has recently received significant attention as a power generation device. AEMFC enhanced oxygen reduction catalysis, allowing the use of Pt-free or precious group metal(PGM)-free catalysts. To achieve high-performance AEMFC, AEM required that high OH- ion conductivity and good stability. Herein, we have synthesized the IEC-controlled quaternised poly(carbazole)(QPC-TMA) with rigid ether-free and curved backbone structure comprised of carbazole monomers. A series of QPC-TMA were superacid-catalyzed polymerization and in-situ quaternization. In particular, we measured the alkaline stability, ion exchange capacity, SAXS and ion conductivity of AEM. |
