Self-assembled supramolecular dendrimers are attractive for next-generation membranes with advantageous properties such as small and mono-disperse feature size, easy fabrication, and diversity in feature size and functionality. We produced a periodic nanorporous polymer membrane, resulting from self-assembly of polymerizable dendrimer molecules and selective removal of core template. The prepared robust nanostructure showed size selective dye adsorption and rejection at 1 - to 2- nm length scale due to the exitance of mono-disperse nano pore (diameter ~1.5nm). These results represent a breakthrough for the use of supramolecular dendrimer in high performance water purification applications. |
