Application of Ni-M alloy catalyst (M= Ni, Co, Cu, and Fe) for efficient hydrocarbon oxidation and excellent carbon coking tolerance for IT-SOFCs. |
초록 |
Catalysts for the direct hydrocarbon utilization have received tremendous attention with the amplified needs for the hydrocarbon economy, which is intermediate stage of the transitions from fossil to hydrogen economy. The catalysts should have high catalytic activities as well as excellent carbon coking tolerance for the hydrocarbon oxidation. In this regard, Ni-M alloy catalyst (M = Ni, Co, Cu, and Fe) are considered with the expectation for synergistic effects coming from the high catalytic activities of Ni and the high carbon coking tolerance of transition metals. In this study, the electrochemical properties and the carbon coking tolerance for the catalysts were reported along with the calculated binding strength of each H, O, C species via density functional theory (DFT). As a result, the single cell with Ni-Fe catalyst shows the best electrochemical performance of 0.81 and 0.30 Wcm-2 at 700oC under H2 and C3H8, respectively, with the excellent carbon coking tolerance. |
