In the semi-solid foundations, some amount of pigments such as metal oxides should be used for the purpose of hiding the defects in the skin. In this case, it is so important to prevent the internal phase(aqueous phase) from evaporating because of the drying shrinkage in the final products. We found that the degree of shrinking is closely related with the preferential adsorption of a surfactant to stabilize the emulsion. For the emulsion with surfactants, which tend to adsorb on the surface of pigments, the amount of aqueous phase(water) evaporated was higher and the degree of the drying shrinkage was more severe. |
