The preparation of a PVP-micropatterned surface by an ion irradiation for the manipulation of cellular behavior |

In this study, thin poly(vinyl pyrrolidone) (PVP) films prepared by a spin-coating on polymer dishes were irradiated through a pattern mask with 200 keV proton at fluences between 1 x 1014 and 1 x 1016 ions/cm2. Afterwards, the irradiated samples were developed to generate the PVP patterns. The ion beam irradiation effect on the PVP patterns was investigated by using FT-IR spectroscopy and water contact angle measurement. Cell culturing on the PVP patterns revealed that the cells were preferentially adhered and proliferated on the PVP patterns, thereby generating well-defined 100 μm cell patterns. |
