Core-shell latex particles are composite particles made of two different materials, one theoretically forms the core of the particles and the shell covers the core particle with the other material. we were interested in the synthesis of composite particles consisted of a nonelectrical conductive core and an electrical conductive shell. The core and shell are made of poly(butyl acrylate-co-styrene) and nickel composite, respectively. When the conducting overlayer is continuous and uniform, it can be expected to obtain relatively high conductivities even at very low metal loading and also give more facile route to prepare conducting polymer dispersions having desired particle size. Several approaches have been proposed to form metallic layers on a dielectric core, and we applied the electroless plating method. It has been successfully applied to form Ni shells on polymer core and the resistance of this film shows about 108 Ω/cm2. And this is effectively low to act as antistatic material. |
