제목 | Optimization study for the one-step synthesis of laurolactam as a monomer for PA-12 |
초록 | Polyamide-12 (PA-12) is one of the recently developed nylon polymers. PA-12 is also used as a hard segment in PA-12 elastomers, an important subgroup of polyamide based thermoplastic elastomers (TPAEs). Due to its excellent chemical and mechanical properties like tensile strength, hardness, abrasion resistance, water and chemical resistance, the demand for PA-12 in the global market will continue. Laurolactam, the target material of this study, is a monomer of PA-12 and PA-12 is produced through its ring opening polymerization. In this study, we have developed an efficient one-step process for the synthesis of laurolactam from a commercially available cyclododecanone via a Beckmann rearrangement reaction. In addition, we have developed an efficient purification method and studied the optimization of the reaction scale for industrial applications. |
