A novel method for gold deposited iron oxide/glycol chitosan composite nanoparticles has been designed and characterized as a drug delivery system. Firstly, gold deposited iron oxide nanoparticles was prepared as a diagnosis probe based on the previous method. Gold deposited iron oxide/glycol chitosan complex was formed by ionic interactions between chitosan and gold nanoparticles and was freeze-dried to prepare gold-iron oxide/chitosan composite nanoparticles in the powdery state. During the formation of composite nanoparticles, doxorubicin, a model anti-cancer drug was loaded on the gold surface. FE-SEM and ELS were used to observe the size distribution and zeta-potential. With the formation of composite nanoparticles with chitosan, the stability of gold nanoparticles was improved significantly. Gold deposited iron oxide/glycol chitosan composite nanoparticles in this study can be utilized as a drug delivery system. |
