A photo stable mimic compound of trans-resveratrol, 3,5-Dihydroxy-N-(4-hydroxyphenyl)benzamide, was designed and synthesized. Its photo stability and biological activities were compared with trans-resveratrol. trans-Resveratrol (trans-3,4’,5-trihydroxystilbene), a naturally occurring hydroxyl stilbene, showed broad antioxidative activities such as scavenging of the free radicals, inhibition of lipid peroxidation, and inhibition of the platelet aggregation. However, because of its unfavorable photo stability, the application of trans-resveratrol has been limited. Considering photo instability of trans-resveratrol, 3,5-Dihydroxy-N-(4-hydroxyphenyl)benzamide is much better anti-aging material. |
