π-conjugated semiconducting copolymer based on BTBT for high performance organic thin-film transistor |

Organic thin-film transistors (OTFTs) has shown limitation due to its low mobility despite its intrinsic advantages such as light weight, inexpensive and simple fabrication. Here, we fabricated high performance OTFTs through simple solution processing of π-conjugated semiconducting copolymers based on [1]benzothieno[3,2-b]benzothiophene (BTBT) and perylene/naphthalene diimide (PDI/NDI) derivatives. The OTFTs showed n-type field effect behavior and significant improvement in the mobility compared to those made of other copolymers based on PDI/NDI. The enhancement of charge carrier transport clearly indicates the role of BTBT in the semiconducting polymers. The physical properties of the copolymer were examined through differential scanner calorimeter (DSC) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) to optimize device processing condition of the OTFTs. Their energy levels were studied through cyclic voltammetry (CV). Our results demonstrate the bright prospect of copolymer design in the performance enhancement of solution processed OTFTs. |
