Flexible and high capacitance gate insulators have been widely studied with the goal of low voltage operation of flexible thin film transistors (TFTs). Among various dielectric materials have been investigated as gate insulator, ion-gels show both flexibility and high capacitance values. However, the non-covalent network structure of ion-gel shows lack of thermal and physical stability due to chain pull-out of the ionic liquid-phobic blocks in physical gel matrix. Herein, we demonstrated ionic liquid-blended polymer gate insulator with 1-Ethyl-3-methylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide and cross-linked poly(4-vinylphenol). This cross-linked polymer provides a robust matrix which shows bendability more than 1000 times with 5 mm bending radius and thermal stability up to 300 ℃. Based on this ionic liquid-blended polymer, gate insulator exhibits high capacitance (>3 μF/cm2 at 20 Hz) and high ion conductivity (>6.36 mS/cm), and successfully applied to TFTs with a low voltage. |
