제목 Synthesis and properties of antibacterial polymers containing citronellol as side chain of polyepichlorohydrin
초록 Citronellol is a type of terpenic alcohol like geraniol, and a component of essential oil extracted from Eucalyptus and Citronella java. Although Citronellol shows efficient antibacterial property against multidrug-resistant bacteria, there are few attempts to synthesize polymers containing citronellol and investigate their antibacterial properties. A series of antibacterial polymers was synthesized by introducing citronellol on to polyepichlorohydrin(PECH) backbone. As increasing amount of citronellol, the antibacterial moiety, the antibacterial effect was also increased, it was verified that the antibacterial property of citronellol maintains after the substitution reaction. As these polymers can sufficiently inhibit bacterial growth, these polymers can be used as an effective antibacterial coating material.
