Formaldehyde removal over pitch based activated carbon fiber using Urea impregnation |
초록 |
Global urbanization has caused a great pollution crisis owing to the rapid increase in energy consumption and transportation. Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are considered primary toxic substances in various places, such as underwater, soil, and atmosphere, among various pollutants. Therefore, much effort is focused on removing them using various methodologies. These VOCs are the most important pollutants in the room and have carcinogenicity in the case of benzene and formaldehyde. in this study Urea/nitric acid co-impregnated pitch-based activated carbon fibers (ACFs) were examined as adsorbents for the removal of low-concentration formaldehyde gas from dry and humid atmospheres. Urea, which is a harmless and environmentally friendly primary amine, was selected as an effective reagent to capture form aldehyde and nitric acid was used to promote the oxidation of formaldehyde into formic acid, which inhibits the liberation of formaldehyde even under humid atmospheres. |
