In this study, fast-dissolving hydrophilic drug delivery membrane was fabricated using fish gelatin as drug delivery carrier. To prevent the hydrophilic drug crystallization, aqueous fish gelatin was used as a solvent system. Furthermore, electrospinning process which induced the fast solvent evaporation was selected as a membrane fabrication method. Caffeine was used as the hydrophilic model drugs. Morphology of gelatin nanofiber and caffeine crystallization was investigated using Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM). Wetting and drug release behaviors of as spun membrane were investigated and compared with the behavior in gelatin films. |
