This study presents the physical chain cross-linking in binary polymer blends containing single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs). The polymer chain cross-linking in the presence of SWNTs were facilitated by water and dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), the amounts of which liquid media highly affected the physicochemical properties of the resulting products. The products were characterized by electron microscopy, sorption tests, X-ray diffraction, and so forth. It was found that the inter-molecular interactions between the liquid media and SWNTs had significant effects on the porosity and crystallinity. The SWNT/binary polymer products were further modified by additional processes, i.e., Mn deposition and KOH activation, and then transformed into carbonaceous materials through heat treatment. These results provide meaningful insight into how different kinds of materials can be combined for achieving new materials’ characteristics. |
