In this work, a diol-based fluorescent dye nanosensor conjugated with phenylboronic acid-functionalized carbon dot (CD) causing quenching effect from the Forster resonance energy transfer (FRET). The system shows ability to detect bacteria by utilizing high affinity between phenylboronic acid diol groups on bacterial membrane, resulting in fluorescence on behavior. The sensing system displayed excellent detection performance with vary concentrations of bacteria within 1h, confirming high affinity with diol moiety to discharge fluorescent dye from the platform. This system is also able to tune fluorescence on when tested on river water. In conclusion, the nanosystem showed its ability as inexpensive and highly selective bacterial sensor in diverse chemo-selective ligand-based surroundings. |
