WO3 Nanosheets Coupled with PdO for Promotion of Electrocatalytic Oxygen Reduction Reaction |

Modulation of the electronic structures of electrocatalysts is aneffective way to improve their electrocatalytic activities. However, strongcoupling between PdO and other metals or metal oxides requires high temperatureannealing and complex processes. Herein, we report a facile chemical approachfor the synthesis of WO3 nanosheets bearing PdO nanoclusters (PdO@WO3Sx)as an electrocatalyst to accelerate ORR in Zin-airbatteries. WO3 nanosheets were directly converted from metallic WS2nanosheets through the spontaneous formation and deposition of PdO nanoclustersin water under mild conditions (1 h, 50oC), producing PdO@WO3Sxhybrid structures. Strong coupling of PdO to WO3 nanosheets wasconfirmed by experiments and computational simulations, causing shifts in the d-bandcenters of the hybrids. As-prepared PdO@WO3Sx exhibitedexcellent performance for electrocatalytic ORR underbasic conditions, compared to commercial Pt/C electrocatalysts. |
