Catalytic activities of CoMoS2 and NiMoS2 catalysts were investigated for the hydrotreating (HDT) of waste plastic pyrolysis oil (WPPO), using an autoclave reactor at 613K and 8.6 MPa H2. The analyses of WPPO, and the HDT products were made by gas chromatography (GC) equipped with mass spectrometry (MS), and nitrogen phosphorus detector (NPD). The structural properties of the catalysts were characterized by X-ray absorption near edge spectroscopy (XANES). The NiMoS2 catalyst showed the better activity than the CoMoS2 in the HDT of WPPO (XHDN=57.0% vs. 51.8%, XHDO=68.9% vs 67.0%). The XANES analysis confirmed surface oxidation of the sulfide catalyst in the presence of 20% of WPPO in the feedstock. |
