Transition metal single atom catalysts has recently emerged in acidic Oxygen evolution reaction(OER) because of their maximum atomic effieciency and high durability. Herein, we report cobalt single atom catalyst supported on pyrrole type nitrogen doped crumpled graphene(Co-NCG pyrrole) for acidic OER. The Co-NCG pyrrole demonstrates outstanding catalytic activity for the acidic OER by showing low overpotential value. There are two main reasons for superior OER performance of Co-NCG pyrrole. First, The large specific surface area and high electroconductivity of N doped crumpled graphenes(NCG) enhance OER performance. Second, The pyrrole type CoN4 sites of Co-NCG pyrrole boosts OER activity, which is elucidated by Operando X-ray absorption spectroscopy measurements. Moreover, It is revealed by Density functional theory calculation that orbital re-distribution occurs in Co-NCG pyrrole because of its longer Co-N bonding distance than pyridine type Co-NCG. |
