제목 A study on proliferation and phenotypical stability of retinal pigment epithelial cells on SIS sheets.
초록 Retinal pigment epithelial cells(RPE) form a monolayer on the outer portion of sensory retina and have important physiologic function that include solute transport, phagocytosis and digestion of membranes shed from photoreceptor outer segment and drug detoxication. Small intestinal submucosa (SIS) consists of some growth factors which can stimulate cell activity. Also, SIS had been widely used as a biomaterial without immune rejection responses. In this study, we evaluated SIS sheets on adhesion, proliferation and phenotype maintenance of RPEs. We confirmed high cell viability of the SIS sheet and we confirmed the effects of adhesion and proliferation on RPEs according to immunocytochemistry and SEM observation. Therefore, The SIS sheet could act as a potential scaffold to enhance the RPEs proliferation. This research was supported by MHWFA (0405-BO01-0204-0006) and WCU (R31-20029).
