Dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) have attracted considerable interest because of their high conversion of sunlight to electricity and lower production and material cost. Up to now, to enhance the performance of DSSCs, most of the investigation are based on efficient ruthenium complexes sensitizers. A new series of ruthenium(II) sensitizers with 4-oligothienylvinylene-2,2′-bipyridine, [Ru(dcbpy)(Ln)(NCS)2] were synthesized and characterizated by elemental analysis (where dcbpy = 4,4′-dicarboxylic acid-2,2′-bipyridine, L1 = 4-(1-cyano-2-(thien-2-yl)ethenyl)-2,2′-bipyridine, L2 = 4-(1-cyano-2-(5′-hexyl-2,2′-bithien-2-yl)ethenyl)-2,2′bipyridine, and L3 = 4-(1-cyano-2-(5′′-hexyl-2,2′:5,2′′-terthien-2-yl)ethenyl)-2,2′-bipyridine). The UV-visible and emission spectra, cyclic voltammetric studies and photovoltaic performances were also investigated. |
