Preparations and Photovoltaic Properties of Hybrid Gel Electrolytes Based on Polybutadienes for Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells |

We fabricated the hybrid gel electrolyte based on modified polybutadienes (PB) by sol-gel process, and attempt the fabrication of dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) using the modified PB as electrolyte layer. A new type of hybrid gel electrolyte based on modified PB was developed for DSSCs. Hybrid gel electrolytes made by sol-gel process by the hydrolysis reaction of polybutadiene containing triethoxysilane group and tetraethylortho silicate (TEOS). The DSSC containing the hybrid gel electrolyte rendered an open-circuit voltage of 0.64 V, a short-circuit photocurrent density of 15.00 mA/cm2 and a fill factor of 0.58 at AM 1.5, and consequently an overall solar energy conversion efficiency of 5.49 %. The modified PB layer is carried out by cross-linking reaction by oneself. The layer of modified PB containing triethoxysilane group onto TiO2 electrode is shown to improve the stability of DSSC and to provide high conductivity as well as charge transfer ability. |
