Label-free Optical Detection of Self-aligned Colloidal Plasmonic Nanoantennae on a liquid-liquid interface |
초록 |
Due to the diffusion and random orientation of colloidal nanoparticles in a solution, it has been considered challengeable to obtain surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) signal unless the concentration of analyte is high enough. Here we report an innovative method to amplify SERS signal by taking advantage of autonomous alignment of rod-shaped plasmonic nanoantennae on a liquid-liquid interface without any pre-concentration step. Mathematical calculation shows the lowest interface energy when the nanoantennae is oriented vertically on the interface. SERS signal from the interface which strongly depends on the polarization of laser and the direction of illumination supports vertical orientation of nanoantennae in the interface. A detection limit down to 10 nM is achieved for rhodamine 6 G (R6G) without pre-concentration step. We believe our findings open a new avenue for label-free biomolecular detection. |
