제목 | Radioactive material adsorption properties of oxygen plasma surface treated activated carbon |
초록 | Activated carbon (AC) were used to study to remove radiocesium from water by adsorption. In this study, oxygen plasma surface treatment is performed on AC to enhance an adsorption performance. After oxygen plasma surface treatment, the interaction between negatively charged carboxyl groups or hydroxyl groups and heavy metal cations is investigated, and radioactive ion adsorption performance according to the oxygen contents of AC treated with oxygens plasma is analyzed and evaluated. AC sample treated by the oxygen plasma have an oxygen contents of 16.84% in sample O10 compared to 7.36% oxygen contents of the untreated activated carbon sample. When untreated or plasma treated activated carbon was added to 1 ppm cesium solution and adsorbed, it was confirmed that the more oxygen content in the AC, the better the adsorption was achieved. The results revealed that the higher the oxygen content in the AC, the better the activated carbon adsorbed cesium. |
