제목 Fabrication of Transparent Glass Fiber-Reinforced Siloxane Hybrid Composites
초록 An optically transparent composite is fabricated with chopped glass strands (CGSs) as the reinforcement agent and epoxy- or methacrylate-functionalized oligosiloxane hybrid material (hybrimer) as the matrix. The wetting properties between the CGSs coated with various sizings and the matrix resins were examined for the purpose of securing the optimal CGSs-matrix compatibility. The refractive indices of CGSs and hybrimer were precisely matched to achieve optical transparency of the composite. The mechanical strength, surface hardness, and optical transparency of the fabricated composites were monitored as a function of both the content and length of CGSs. The optimized composite showed light transmittance level of 70~85% at 550 nm and improved mechanical strength as well as surface hardness.
