A simple and practical method has been developed to prepare degradable poly(ethylene oxide phosphonamidate) (PEOPA) hydrogels that exhibit excellent thermostability, swellability, flexibility, shape-retentivity, biocompatibility and sustained release of drugs. The synthetic strategy fully incarnates strongpoints of chemical reaction such as short reaction time, easy separation and high yield. Animal studies on newly synthesized hydrogel demonstrate a standard biocompatibility, so that the sustained release tests have been performed by mounting an anticancer drug Doxorubicin in hydrogel in vivo and vitro. In case of vitro condition, the release rate and amount are controllable via a diversification of pH and temperature of buffered solution, demonstrating the intelligent properties of the PEOPA hydrogels for drug delivery system. |
