Polyurethane Nanocomposite with Functionalized Silica Particle |

The polyurethane/silica nanocomposites were formed with surface modified silica particles. The nano-sized silica particles were functionalized by 3-amino propyltriethoxy siliane(APTES) and the reaction between silica particles and APTES were confirmed by 29Si CP/MAS NMR. And one terminal of the NCO terminated prepolymer was reacted with the surface of the functionalized silica particles and the other end capped by 2-hydroxyethylacrylate. Finally the polymers were crosslinked by UV. Subsequently, nano sized silica particles were incorporated as crosslink points. The static/dynamic mechanical properties were measured by DMTA and UTM and it was shown that these properties could be improved by reacting with functionalized silica. Notably, hardness and thermal stability significantly enhanced. |
