Organic photodetectors have achieved great interest in recent years due to their distinguishing characteristics such as color selectivity, flexibility and cost efficiency. In order to maximize these characteristics, it is essential to minimize the thickness of the fabricated device. Here we present thin film organic photoconductor through spatial confinement of PCBM as a photoconductive sensitizer between hole transporting P3HT layer and cathode. Apart from conventional photoconductor, where the sensitizer is distributed throughout the entire active layer, the strategic distribution of optical sensitizer through sequential deposition technique enables significantly reduced thickness for the active layer without allowing electron percolation pathways to form. Such device can be essential for high resolution image sensor application. The operating voltage can be significantly decreased as well while maintaining a high detectivity thanks to the photomultiplication phenomena. |
