Synthesis and antifungal activities of quaternary ammonuim salts of epoxidized soybean oil |

Renewable raw materials are going to playing a very noteworthy role in the development of sustainable green chemistry. They offer a large number of possibilities for applications which can be rarely met by petrochemistry. Soybean oil (SBO) is sustainable efficient green chemistry. The epoxidation of SBO with performic acid generated in situ by the reaction of 30 wt% hydrogen peroxide and formic acid. Synthesize amine-functionalized SBO is based on the ring opening reaction of epoxidized soybean oil (ESBO) with HNR'R". Soybenoil-based quaternary ammonium salts using solvent-free conditions in the reaction of amine-functionalized SBO with R-Ha. The resultant products are confirmed by 1H-NMR spectroscopy and Infrared spectroscopy. Antimicrobial activity was determined using Gram-positive (Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923) and Gram-negative (Escherichia coli ATCC 25922, Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 27853) bacteria. |
