Nanoparticles formed by self-assembly in aqueous solution have been extensively studied in a variety of applications due to their morphological and functional properties. In this study, a poly(2-hydroxyethyl aspartamide) (PHEA) grafted with menthyl anthranilate was successfully synthesized. The size and morphology of the self-assembled nanoparticles were controlled by adjusting the degree of substitution (DS). In addition, inorganic particles were encapsulated into a self-assembly, spike-like self-assembled nanoparticles were formed when 5% hydrophobic moieties were introduced. It was confirmed that ultraviolet screening ability of spike-like nanoparticles increases 1.8-fold compared to simple inorganic particles. Finally, nano-sized self-assemblies were applied to a cosmeceutical formulation. These results can be utilized for innovative cosmeceutical delivery that can effectively meet the needs for both beauty and functionality, including the treatment. |
