Nano-sized self-assemblies formed with amphiphilic graft copolymers have been extensively studied for drug delivery. This study reports a novel strategy to prepare biomimetic self-assemblies by varying packing of α-helix and β-sheet which are secondary structures. Specifically, the amphiphilic graft copolymers, PHEA-g-oligo(L-leucine) composed of poly(amino acid)s derivative and oligo(L-leucine) which to form α-helix as the grafted hydrophobic chain were successfully synthesized. In parallel, PHEA-g-oligo(L-valine) was also synthesized to form β-sheet of the grafted hydrophobic chain. The self-assembly ratio of α-helix and β-sheet formed in PHEA-g-oligo was simulated equal to the secondary structure content of EGF, and its contents were 2.9 % and 28.5 %, respectively. Finally, EGF was introduced with PHEA-g-oligo and applied to cosmeceuticals to efficiently deliver EGF to the human skin. This strategy would applicable to prepare cosmeceutical system. |
