제목 Ag supported on macroporous CeO2 catalyst for soot oxidation
초록 The catalysts which have high oxygen storage capacity (OSC) could be candidates for soot combustion that replace supported precious metal catalysts since they release lattice oxygen into the gas phase. This lattice oxygen promotes the soot oxidation at the catalyst surfaces. Thus, we introduced Ce-based catalyst and investigated the way to improve their activity for soot combustion.
The catalytic activity could be improved further by increasing the contact between soot and inner pore of catalyst. Generally, the pore size of soot is 20-1000 nm and thus soot has difficulty to pass through small pore and to contact inner active point of catalyst. The soot combustion temperature considerably depends on contact type between soot and catalyst. Thus, we synthesized Ce-based catalyst with macroporous structure and introduced Ag metal to enhance the generation of lattice oxygen since Ag is well known to increase the catalytic activity of CeO2. Ag supported on macroporous CeO2 showed the improved activity for soot oxidation and the relation of the characterization results and the activity-test results will be discussed.
