Self-Healable Dual Dynamic Supramolecular Network with Quadruple Hydrogen Bonding |

Self-healing supramolecular network is one of the representative biomimetic intelligent materials that can repair its own structures and functions from the damage by the external environment. Despite their excellent self-healing capabilities, the poor mechanical strengths of self-healing supramolecular networks have limited their widespread industrial applications. In this study, we present a self-healable supramolecular network with enhanced healing capability and mechanical properties through the formation of a dual dynamic network structure composed of quadruple hydrogen bonds and crystalline physical bonds using UPy-end-functionalized semi-crystalline star-shaped supramolecular polymers. The control of crosslinking density for the network was critical to achieving the mechanically robust semi-crystalline supramolecular network with highly efficient healing capability due to their arm-length-dependent phase transformation and dual dynamic healing behavior. |
