제목 Hierarchical Membrane Integration of Shear Stress-Resistant Nanoparticles and Biomimetic Micropatterns for Ultrahigh and Durable Biofouling Resistance
초록 Herein, we report a rational strategy for fabricating dual-functional microfiltration (MF) membranes hierarchically integrated with micropatterns and Ag nanoparticles (NPs) for ultrahigh and durable fouling resistance. To harness both hydrodynamic force and chemical oxidation for enhanced anti-biofouling ability, a monolayer of AgNPs is transferred onto negative patterns of polyurethane acrylate molds, which is then integrated onto the biomimetic micropattern of porous polyacrylonitrile (PAN) membranes through nonsolvent-induced phase separation. Without using chemical linkers, our method achieves stable and partial embedment of AgNPs onto the porous PAN network, which exhibits negligible loss of AgNPs even after exposure to high shear stress. The resultant MF membrane significantly suppresses the decrease in water flux for the microbial solution by over 40% and 100% compared with the same micropatterned MF membranes without AgNPs and bare MF membranes, respectively, owing to dual anti-bacterial activities of the biocidal property of AgNPs and the hydrodynamic repulsion of the micropatterns. Our method can be applied to various NPs for biofouling-resistant porous membranes.
