PLS-II SAXS Beamlines of Pohang Accelerator Laboratory and Scientific Opportunities |

During PLS-II upgrade project, SAXS beamlines (3C, 4C, and 9A) of Pohang Accelerator Laboratory were disassembled and reassembled. Each beamline is equipped with an in-vacuum undulator (IVU) insertion device, a DCM (Double Crystal Monochromator) and a focusing mirror system to obtain a high X-ray flux. 3C beamline is dedicated to a grazing incidence X-ray scattering/diffraction experiments to study the structure of surfaces and interfaces of soft matters under various environmental conditions. 4C beamline is dedicated to transmission small- and wide-angle X-ray scattering/diffraction studies of polymers, composite nanomaterials, biological macromolecules (protein, DNA, and RNA), and etc. 9A is equipped with both transmission and grazing incidence of X-ray scattering/diffraction experimental set-ups for the easy access of both geometries. Commissioning results, some recent experimental results, and scientific opportunities of SAXS beamlines will be discussed. |
