Kinetic rate equation model, also known as master equation, has been widely used to describe Ostwald Ripening in a single continuous model. However, previous isothermal assumption has prevented the model from fully reaching its potential. In this work, we developed a model that could explain Ostwald Ripening and metastable region width in a single, continuous form. To adjust arbitrary kinetic parameters, changes of critical cluster size of crystals and supersaturation over varying range of time were taken into account. Kinetic parameters such as, but not limited to, surface tension and area/volume ratio were changed to meet up with experimental data. Therefore, as a result of temperature change, degree of supersaturation will function more than just initial boundary condition of the model, but rather as an independent variable. |
