We reported a direct method to prepare hierarchically ordered mesoporous silica with bimodal pore structure from the co-condensation of TEOS and porogen-grafted trimethoxysilane in the presence of a triblock copolymer Pluronic P123 (EO20PO70EO20), used as a structure-directing agent. Newly developed porogen-grafted silicas, with adamantylphenols chemically linked to silsesquioxane precursors, were designed and synthesized in our laboratory. Adamantane group generates additional closed intrawall mesopores in addition to larger mesopores confirmed by two-step N2 desorption branch because of pore blocking effect. In addition to, several crucial experimental parameters for obtaining highly ordered bimodal silica structure are discussed. Furthermore, current results show a promise to be able to realize in nanoporous thin films having potential applications ranging from catalysts to pore-based sensing devices such as low dielectric materials and antireflective coating materials. |
