Infrared spectroscopy beamline (IRS@12D port) was constructed and the two end stations was successfully installed at the PAL. SR (Synchrotron Radiation) high brightness benefits Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectro-microscopy on very small samples with a signal-to-noise ratio unreachable by other broadband sources. The purpose of this beamline is to allow Synchrotron Radiation Infrared (SRIR), micro-spectroscopy and imaging, using a FTIR interferometer in both mid IR and far IR regions. 12D IRS aims to cover life science, biomedicine, environmental sciences, solid state physics and chemistry. In this study, we examined optical microscopy and FTIR imaging that investigated the phase separation behaviors of thermally conductive immiscible aromatic polyimide blend films and a PI blend film incorporated with boron nitride. FTIR imaging provides both spectral data and spatial information, which makes possible the immediate examination of the chemical distribution of polymer blends. |
