Well-defined Bottlebrush Block Copolymers containing Polystyrene Moieties by Grafting-through Polymerization |

Bottlebrush polymers are a type of branched polymer with densely packed polymeric side chains. These polymers exhibit significantly different conformational properties compared with conventional linear polymer, such as the reduced chain entanglement. The unique properties easily enable block copolymers with ultrahigh molecular weights to be self-assembly and to be application for photonic crystals. However, synthetic challenges of well-defined bottlebrush block copolymers are still remains. In this work, we focused on development of facile synthetic methods for polystyrene-based bottlebrush block copolymers via Grafting-through polymerization of living anionic polymerization and ring-opening metathesis polymerization. Furthermore, 1D photonic films were fabricated by their self-assembly, which confirmed the effect of ultrahigh molecular weights. |
