We synthesized a photocatalytically active metal filter via immobilizing TiO2 nanofibers through a hot-press process where a poly(vinylidene fluoride) nanofibers interlayer acted as a strong binder between the TiO2 nanofibers layer and the surface of the metal filter. And, the photodegradation efficiencies were obtained for pharmaceuticals such as cimetidine, acetaminophen, sulfamethoxazole, and propranolol. In the continuous experiment, high and stable photocatalytic activities for the degradation of cimetidine were observed at a flux of 10L/m2h. Most importantly, it was continuously operated at very low transmembrane pressure (0.1kPa). Overall, our results showed that it can potentially be employed in the treatment of effluents containing aquatic organic contaminants. |
