Performance of fuel cell MEAs is closely related to water management. At a current density, water flooding causes poor fuel cell performance by providing additional resistance. To solve this problem, a method to remove the water generated by the reaction is needed. In this study, narrow paths were formed on the cathode layer to create flow field for water and fuel to pass through. The paths of the catalyst layer increased the surface area of the catalyst in contact with the oxygen, and made the generated water diffuse faster. In order to explain this, electrochemical analysis and performance measurement were performed. |
